Job Description
Position Overview: The Senior Business Support Specialist provides comprehensive administrative, financial, and human resources support to the Department of Biochemistry. This position manages critical processes related to faculty appointments, payroll reconciliation, accounts payable, and compliance reporting. The incumbent ensures the efficient operation of departmental business functions, supports faculty and graduate student program needs, and serves as a key resource for departmental leadership. Key Responsibilities: * Manage faculty appointment and reappointment processes, including preparing and maintaining related documentation. * Perform monthly payroll reconciliation and process payroll corrections as necessary. * Maintain transaction checklists and ensure accuracy of departmental business transactions. * Support graduate student program transactions, including appointments and related documentation. * Ensure compliance with university, state, and federal mandatory reporting requirements. * Maintain accurate and confidential departmental records related to HR, finance, and compliance. * Serve as a departmental resource for business operations, collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and campus offices. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data. * Experience in business, finance, or HR support functions preferred. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives. * Proficiency with financial systems, payroll processes, and reporting tools is a plus. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholders. * Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or comparable experience.
Anticipated Hiring Range
