Job Description:

Analytical Mechanical Analysts (AMA) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the Research, Science and Engineering Services (RSES) contract at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.

The successful applicant will contribute to the Vulcan Engine Recovery Aeroshell (VERA) project. VERA supports a commercial application of the Hypersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (HIAD; a.k.a. "inflatable heatshield") technology by delivering a HIAD for use on a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Vulcan Centaur launch vehicle for recovery of the booster BE-4 engines. This cooperative partnership between NASA and ULA is through a Reimbursable Space Act Agreement (RSAA) in support of NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD).

Required Qualifications:

B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 10-20 years of experience which should include:

  • the VERA Load Test Tub

  • the VERA Integration Stand

  • the VERA Centralized Work Platform

  • VERA Flight Test Campaign coordination with ULA

U.S. citizens or Permanent Residency is required.
