We are currently seeking a Commercial Manager to join our Boart Longyear team, based in Elko, Nevada. The Commercial Manager will drive the selling of underground (UG) core drilling, UG reverse circulation (RC) and long-hole percussive (PDS) drilling services to customers in the United States. In time, the selected candidate will also take on the commercial responsibilities for the surface RC Division. They will also develop services pricing, maintain contract and proposal files, ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, and track established contracts with regard to schedules, deliverables, and closeouts. Responsibilities
- Ensures that Company has a valid, signed contract in place at all times when drilling activity occurs.
- Performs review and analysis of tender documents and customer inquiries.
- In coordination with Operations staff, prepares customer contract proposals/bid sheets/tender submissions. Proposals must adhere to company policy and be approved through the established bid approval process prior to submission to customer.
- Possesses a detailed understanding of expenses incurred when mobilizing, warehousing and purchasing for contracts under his/her jurisdiction.
- Ensures all bid assumptions are fully documented and key contractual terms are addressed in bid pricing.
- Negotiate contract language on behalf of Boart Longyear.
- Contributes to the company's social media presence by creating, curating, and posting engaging content to promote services, projects, and company initiatives and culture.
- Supports marketing and brand awareness efforts through digital campaigns, promotional materials, and consistent messaging across platforms.
- Adheres to all CRM data entry requirements.
- Track bidding activity and approvals in Company database.
- Ensures that operations personnel are familiar with key contractual and commercial terms.
- Adheres to Key Account Management activities, including coordinating regular contract meetings with customers, preparation of presentations, performance reviews and pricing reviews.
- Works closely with the contract administrators and any others involved in invoicing process to ensure accuracy.
- Works with contract administrators to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient processing of invoices.
- Customer engagement on delinquent payment of invoices.
- Makes regular, periodic appraisal of performance and results of contracts measuring variance from bid performance and taking necessary corrective action.
- Minimum 25 percent travel for existing and new customer in-person interactions.
- Visit field operations to ensure that contracts are being efficiently executed to the customer's satisfaction.
- Organizes and leads (in partnership with operations staff) a pre-job meeting and a post-job close out.
- Maintains registers of contract issues ensuring appropriate tracking and closeout.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field OR certifications and/or relevant experience with drilling service strongly considered.
- 1-3 years of experience in Commercial Management or outside sales.
- Proficiency in contract negotiation, finance, engineering, operations, or drilling.
- Outbound sales experience including cold calling, tradeshow, and organizational events.
- Superior management and influencing skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across different teams.
- Effective time and priority management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel) and other computer skills.
