Job Summary

The Service Technician Apprentice - Plumbing supports experienced technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems for commercial and residential buildings. This role involves assisting with disassembly and reassembly of equipment, diagnosing performance issues, and performing tasks such as stoppages, cabling, pumping, and backflow testing. Apprentices will use hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment while learning the trade. Additional responsibilities include participating in on-call rotations, purchasing materials, maintaining tools and vehicles, and adhering to all safety and driving policies.


Essential Duties

  • Provide hands-on assistance to service technicians by disassembling and reassembling commercial and residential plumbing equipment for troubleshooting and maintenance. Diagnose equipment performance, conduct stoppages/cabling, pumping, and backflow testing. Skillfully utilize hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment.
  • Collaborate with the team by participating in on-call/stand-by rotations as per business unit policies and procedures.
  • Purchases materials and issues purchase order numbers to suppliers.
  • Safely drives a motor vehicle and trailer, follows requirements of company vehicle driving policy and adheres to all company safety requirements.
  • Maintains equipment, vehicle, and tools.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED. Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field is preferred. Craft training is preferred.

Maintains required registrations, professional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position.

Plumbing Repair skills: planned maintenance, stoppages/cabling, pumping and backflow testing.

Proficiency in using app-based technology is essential.

Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, gauges and measuring equipment.

Must have basic math skills.

Professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills with good written and oral communication capability.
