Position Overview
The Product Certification & Compliance Specialist ensures that all products intended for use in hazardous locations meet relevant national and international certification requirements. This role provides expert guidance, technical support, and oversight to maintain product compliance throughout the product lifecycle. The specialist coordinates with certification bodies, leads audits, advises on technical issues affecting certifications, and supports both internal teams and suppliers with safety-related matters.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide guidance and support to maintain product certifications for hazardous locations.
* Coordinate, host, and support external audits conducted by certified bodies.
* Monitor and manage all relevant product certifications, including planning and executing project actions to maintain compliance.
* Offer technical counsel when product design or production issues arise that may impact certification status.
* Act as a key resource for resolving product safety matters and ensuring proper incident handling.
* Deliver technical training to operators, internal teams, and suppliers on certification and safety requirements.
* Participate in supplier audits, especially where critical certification-related processes are involved.
* Maintain expertise in FM, FM Canada, CSA, ATEX, and other applicable certification requirements.
* Collaborate with notified bodies on certification projects and maintain strong working relationships.
* Support Canadian CRN registration and ensure compliance with European standards, including REACH and the Pressure Equipment Directive.
* Travel occasionally to support supplier audits or certification agency visits.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 years of mechanical and electronic testing experience
  • Demonstrated experience with hazardous-location product certifications (FM, FM Canada, CSA, ATEX).
  • Hands-on experience working with notified bodies and certification agencies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Canadian CRN, REACH, and the European Pressure Equipment Directive.
  • Strong understanding of product safety concepts and certification processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the design of electronic circuits and printed circuit boards.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electronic testing procedures relevant to product certification.
  • Ability to conduct product safety analysis and support safety-driven design improvements.
  • Strong communication skills for delivering training and coordinating across departments and suppliers.
