Position Highlights The Department of Biosystems Engineering is seeking a Community Outreach Professional I, Community Outreach Coordinator. The primary responsibility of this position consists of planning, coordinating, and implementing community programs, educational workshops and short courses for the Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (CEAC) with the community, families, individuals, high school educators, the Community College and the University. In addition, this position will carry out community engagement operational duties such as enhancing the marketing, branding and advertising with emphasis on controlled environment agriculture.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates, plans, develops, and implements community outreach programs and crop production short courses at the Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (CEAC) with Schools, community centers, families, individuals, industries, and organizations.
  • Serves as the primary contact between CEAC and the community programs and community courses.
  • Plans and assists with community educational meetings and conferences for CEAC.
  • Develop communication materials to promote programs in communities under the direction of CEAC Director with a focus on enhancement of websites, social media presence and communication for CEAC alumni, stakeholders, student recruitment, and other relations.
  • Work proactively and jointly with the BE Administrative Associate and Sustainable Plant systems Program Coordinator/Academic Advisor on community programs.
  • Coordinate production and mailing of communication material, including online, print, and other media, for all CEAC community outreach activities, programs, and projects, as assigned.
  • Coordinate and maintain CEAC community mailing lists, newsletters, online sites, and social media, as necessary.
  • Provide support for the Director and faculty of CEAC.
  • Coordinate and plan with the Director of CEAC on priorities, unit goals, programs, and courses.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service in responding to in-person, phone, and email inquiries regarding CEAC.
  • Serve as a liaison between academic units with controlled environment agriculture programs for procedural and process activities.
  • Drive to main campus as needed to collaborate with BE programs/staff.
  • Generate surveys on post-graduate employment data and create appropriate reports for administration.
  • Coordinate and prepare special data and reports for the management, as assigned.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating technical tours for CEAC facilities and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience required.
  • Must possess a valid driver license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
