Essential Functions

* Machine Setup and Calibration: Prepare laser cutting machinery for operation by setting up parameters, calibrating equipment, and ensuring proper alignment according to job specifications.

* Material Handling: Load raw materials onto the laser cutting machine, ensuring proper placement and alignment for accurate cutting.

* Programming and Operation: Use computer software to program cutting paths, adjust settings such as laser power and speed, and initiate cutting processes.

* Quality Control: Monitor cutting processes to ensure accuracy, precision, and quality of finished products, conducting regular inspections and making adjustments as needed.

* Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or operational issues, performing minor repairs or adjustments to maintain productivity and minimize downtime.

* Maintenance and Cleaning: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning lenses and mirrors, replacing consumable parts, and lubricating machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.

* Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while operating laser cutting machinery, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices to prevent accidents or injuries.

* Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including job parameters, material usage, and quality control measurements, to track productivity and ensure traceability.

* Communication and Collaboration: Coordinate with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments to prioritize tasks, address production needs, and maintain workflow efficiency within the manufacturing environment.

* Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction initiatives, contributing to overall operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

* Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are necessary to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or operational issues quickly and effectively.

* Laser operators must possess a keen attention to detail to ensure accurate cutting, proper alignment of materials, and quality control of finished products.

* Knowledge of safety protocols and guidelines for operating laser cutting machinery is crucial to prevent accidents or injuries. Candidates should be committed to maintaining a safe working environment for themselves and their coworkers.

* Effective communication and collaboration skills are important for coordinating with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments to prioritize tasks and address production needs.

* The ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, identify root causes of problems, and implement solutions in a timely manner is essential for maintaining productivity and minimizing downtime.

* Laser operators should be adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities and deadlines.

* Strong math skills (shop math) and ability to use a tape measure in both metric and inches/feet.

* Must be flexible to updated changes in production schedule.

* Must be able to work 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, M-Th, 3:30pm - 2:00am To meet the needs of our customers occasional overtime is required. The company will give as much notice as possible.

Education and Experience

* While a high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, additional vocational training or certification in laser technology or related fields may be beneficial. Ongoing training and professional development opportunities may also be available to enhance skills and knowledge in laser cutting technology.

* Previous experience operating laser cutting machinery in a manufacturing or production environment is typically required. You should have a demonstrated understanding of laser cutting principles and techniques.

* Proficiency in setting up, programming, and operating laser cutting equipment is essential. Candidates should be familiar with CAD/CAM software for programming cutting paths and adjusting cutting parameters.

* Able to read blueprints.

* Crane and forklift experience preferred.

Work Environment

Physical Demands

* Prolonged periods of standing (up to 6 hours at a time)

* Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, hands, fingers, legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling of materials, and operating machinery

* Coordinated, with good fine motor skills and dexterity

* Frequent twisting and turning

* Correctable vision to 20/20

* Must be able to lift up to 10-30lbs
