Job Summary
Provides support to the Design and Construction group by providing architectural designs, construction documents, code compliance analysis and assisting with maintaining accurate construction plans for MPS facilities. Supports Project Managers, Facilities Planning Analysts and construction trades with architectural plans or designs for renovations and other types of facility projects or district initiatives. Wage: $81,506 - $117,444 (12 months)

Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- A bachelors degree in architecture, or a minimum of 10 years of demonstratable experience in an architectural/engineering design office performing duties outlined above.
- Registration as a professional architect in the State of Wisconsin is desirable.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of seven years of experience in building construction or construction related activity.
- Recent project design experience on individual projects in excess of $5 million preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Valid State of Wisconsin motor vehicle operators license and availability of a properly insured personal vehicle at time of appointment and during employment.
Equivalent combinations of training, education, and experience may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Examines existing conditions in buildings with an architectural understanding, taking measurements and relative grades, noting materials and other factors affecting projects.
- Prepares schematic design drawings and design development drawings with high degree of originality and good design sense, for the design and layout of additions and remodeling projects, and performs other drafting duties as assigned. Drawings will be prepared through operation of AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Bluebeam and Autodesk Products.
- Prepares architectural working drawings and details, prepares outline specifications, coordinates work with various consultants, etc. as required to prepare contract documents for bidding. Revises tracings to as-built conditions and locations, and other drafting duties as assigned.
- Checks schedules, shop drawings and other submittals by contractors; files and distributes as required, maintaining proper records, etc.
- Assists in preparation of construction manuals and specifications. Compiles lists of equipment, materials, costs and other data on various projects.
- May be required to assist in inspection of construction projects while in progress.
- Performs other duties and functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, keeping construction records, maintains building product reference files and building material samples, scanning or printing documents, etc.
- Works with outside agencies and public officials as necessary to evaluate problems or develop ideas in support of potential projects and MPS district initiatives.
- Provide building code review and analysis.
- Update master floor plans for all facilities to reflect existing conditions and alignment with AHERA and other regulatory databases maintained by the District.
- Actively support the MPS strategic plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
