Job Summary

Basic Function:

The Extended Learning Opportunities School Counselor supports projects within Extended Learning Opportunities that promote summer academic enrichment, credit recovery/acceleration, and alternative programs.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Educational Requirements:

  • Master's Degree In School Counseling or Educational Leadership.
  • At least five years of school counseling or programming experience.
  • An administrator's license or the ability to obtain within two years of appointment

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience developing reports and automated data processes
  • Understanding of budget, contracts, and grant management.
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Interpersonal skills that ensure effective teamwork
  • Experience leading teams and managing budgets

Working Environment:

  • Typical office or school environment
  • Position may be required to work additional hours, outside of the normal business day as a regular part of the job
  • Position will require the ability to travel between multiple locations
Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and promote extended learning opportunities through publications, website, and social media.
  • Collect and maintain data, compile statistics, keep records, and prepare required reports related to credit recovery, alternative programs, and summer school.
  • Collaborates with various departments, curriculum areas, and community partners lo support implementation of ELO programming.
  • Collaborate with district and school leaders to support the use of the district Graduation progress report, which includes an early warning system to identify students in need of additional support.
  • Organize and maintain effective communication between partnering agencies, community members, the school, and district staff.
  • Provides guidance and professional development for staff to increase understanding and capacity to implement meaningful, high-quality experiences for students.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant state and district policies and practices, particularly regarding alternative education, graduation standards, student transcripts, and data entry in the district information systems.
  • Gather and document business requirements (Standard Operating Procedures) for district-wide distribution of resources.
  • Develop, build, and support reporting processes for extended learning opportunities.
  • Develop, build, and maintain automated data processes.
  • Proctor student exams and assist with student enrollment related to alternative programs.
  • Independently manage time, priorities, budget, records, and required paperwork while meeting deadlines.
  • Monitor and support equitable access and participation of different student groups participating in extended learning opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively across departments and offices on extended learning projects.
  • Successfully lead project teams through the completion of projects.
  • Attend required staff and district meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
