Position Summary:

The Accessioner is responsible for providing excellent customer service to UCH clients, pathologists, associates and personnel ensuring that all interactions are promoting a positive image of the organization.

Key Results Areas (KRAs):

  • Triage, prioritize, and sort specimens appropriately for accessioning and processing.
  • Perform data entry login of patient demographics, specimen source, and test(s) orders from requisitions into the LIS computer system according to the given protocol with minimal errors
  • Accurately labels specimen(s) and timely distributes to the grossing area.
  • Accurately documents any orders lacking required documentation and all problem cases appropriately.
  • Review specimen requisitions against data entry of information for accuracy, document errors, correct errors, and escalate to supervisor based on necessity.
  • Discard trash and packages in biohazard containers for proper disposal.
  • File slides and requisitions daily
  • Package and return slides back to offices via FedEx
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • High School education or GED Required
  • 1+ years working in a lab setting Required
