Summary We are seeking a highly motivated, talented, and experienced individual to join our team as a Renewable Energy Development Manager covering projects located roughly in the western half of United States. In this role, you will work closely with the Associate Director of Solar Development - West to execute on solar and energy storage projects at new and existing renewable facilities to drive significant growth in renewable energy investment opportunities across multiple regions of the US, leveraging the support and resources of a large owner-operator. Key Responsibilities
Manage project development process from inception to completion: project management, collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders, due diligence and fatal flaw analysis, resource assessment, site control, legal, interconnection, community and government affairs, permitting, marketing, construction support, and project finance Managing project schedules, budgets, consultants, and vendors Support the identification and development of new solar energy investment opportunities in multiple regions of the US Support internal and external parties to facilitate power offtake opportunities Negotiating real estate agreements critical to the project's success Coordinating with project landowners and various community stakeholders concerning the project's development Support the building of a project's financial analysis and modeling to assess project viability and profitability Support asset divestitures by providing information requested by internal M&A leads in order to maximize returns on investment Lead due diligence efforts for potential investment projects, ensuring compliance with financial, legal, and technical requirements Collaborate with other developers to execute on co-located renewable energy projects Stay up to date on market trends, regulatory policies, and technologies in the renewable energy sector Build and maintain relationships with key industry partners, investors, and stakeholders Provide input into the overall business development strategy and participate in strategic planning initiatives
Basica Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field In addition to a degree, five (5) years or more of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field
Desired Qualifications
Masters, MBA, or Law Degree preferred 5+ years of experience in business development, project finance, or related field, with a focus on renewable energy investments Utility scale renewables origination and greenfield development experience Project management experience Demonstrated history of collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to bring renewable energy projects to commercial operation Proven track record of successful project origination and execution in the renewable energy sector Strong financial acumen with working knowledge of leveraging complex financial analysis and modeling Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously Working knowledge of renewable energy technologies, market trends, and regulatory policy incentives, wholesale electricity markets, interconnection, real estate contracts, and tax abatements Experience with due diligence processes for energy investments Strong leadership abilities, team player, which includes the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams Strong project management skills and attention to detail Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Effective negotiation skills Ability to travel as needed for project development and due diligence activities
Working Conditions
This role is based in Charlotte, NC. Remote work possible for the right candidate. Up to 50% travel should be anticipated to conduct prospect site visits, manage existing development projects, and attend in-person meetings at the company's Charlotte, NC headquarters.
