Position Summary



Direct all finance functions of Henderson Companies, including long-range financial planning, treasury, company valuations, budgeting/forecasting, financial analysis, ESOP and 401K administration. The Finance Director will be a key partner to help the organization reach its strategic growth initiatives including potential M&A as well as vertical and geographical expansion. As a member of the finance & accounting leadership team, the Finance Director must exhibit strong interpersonal and leadership qualities. The Finance Director develops and manages strategies and encourages creative solutions through innovation.



Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities



Financial Strategy & Planning




  • Manage all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, and management financial reporting.
  • Ensure the company meets its financial goals through accurate and timely reporting.
  • Develop long-range financial models to enhance key business decisions.
  • Establish internal mechanisms to facilitate aggressive growth.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial reporting to support decision-making regarding capital deployment.
  • Drive the financial planning process at the business unit and executive level, including forecasts, capital planning and long-term forecasting.



Team Development




  • Establish a best-in-class finance function to support a growing, dynamic organization.
  • Create, lead and mentor the finance team to foster a productive, collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure effective cross-department collaboration to support organizational goals.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and intentional engagement with stakeholders.
  • Focus on people and team development as a critical component of creating a high-performing team.



Executive & Stakeholder Engagement




  • Engage with the executive team to present financial results, KPIs and strategic recommendations
  • Ensure transparent communication regarding the company's financial standing.
  • Work with external trustee regarding ESOP valuation.



Risk Management & Compliance




  • Conduct financial risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Partner with the risk management team to ensure appropriate insurance is placed with our external partners.



Treasury & Capital Management




  • Provide oversight of the treasury function, including cash and liquidity management, debt and capital markets, bank relationships, and risk management.



Employee Programs & Business Growth Support




  • Provide guidance and oversight for employee-related financial programs, including ESOP, 401(k), and deferred compensation.
  • Support future merger and acquisitions (M&A) activity to strengthen the company's long-term growth and employee value.

Required Education, Experience, Licenses & Technical Competencies




  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business administration required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 12 or more years' experience in finance, accounting or related field required.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Possess the ability to analyze complex financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Capability to effectively align financial strategies with business goals.
  • Quick responsiveness and adaptation to a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
