SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal ofenabling human life on Mars.

SR. SILICON AND PACKAGE RELIABILITY ENGINEER (STARSHIELD)

Starshield leverages SpaceX's Starlink technology and launch capability to support national security efforts. While Starlink is designed for consumer and commercial use, Starshield is designed for government use, with an initial focus on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads.

The Sr. Silicon and Package Reliability Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the design engineering community to produce higher reliability Electrical, Electronic, and Electro-mechanical/Electro-optical (EEE) components and systems. This engineer ensures the reliability of our silicon and packaging products, from design to manufacturing, including developing and implementing reliability tests, analyzing failure data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential reliability risks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure that reliability considerations are incorporated into the design process. Collaborate with Supply Chain Management to ensure supplier products meet our reliability requirements.
  • Development and execution of reliability tests for silicon and package products, including but not limited to: High Temperature Operating Life (HTOL), Temperature Humidity Bias (THB), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), latch-up, and package-level reliability tests.
  • Develop effective production screening to ensure parts meet reliability requirements
  • Evaluate failure analysis and coordinate destructive physical analysis investigations to provide corrective actions and paths to closure
  • Develop and maintain reliability models and simulations to predict product reliability and identify potential reliability risks. Able to analyze failure rates from reliability test results and develop failure prediction models.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Experience in silicon and package reliability engineering industry standards such as JEDEC, AEC, and IEC
  • 5+ years of work experience reliability modeling methods to predict product life, and statistical techniques to analyze test data.
  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor, package, and/or PCBA reliability

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Excellent understanding of accelerated testing methods, governing equations, and physics of failure for different failure mechanisms
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor physics
  • Working knowledge of a coding language, preferably Python
  • Experience with reliability test development and execution, and familiarity with failure analysis techniques (e.g. Scanning Electron Microscope, Confocal Scanning Acoustic Microscopy, Hotspot)
  • Adept in developing and analyzing reliability statistics, including Weibull Analysis
  • Familiarity with failure modes effects and criticality analysis, fault tree analysis (FTA), reliability block aiagram analysis (RBD)
  • Experience with single event upset/multiple bit upset (SEU/MBU) analysis
  • Experience developing Monte Carlo simulations for material, process, manufacturing, environment, usage variations
  • Experience with life testing methods (HALT/HASS, ESS, ALT, RGT)
  • Active TS/SCI clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to work extended hours and weekends as needed to support critical path development and/or critical on-orbit operations
  • An active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions; if so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol test

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Siliconand Package Reliability Engineer/Senior: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00/per year
