Summary/Primary Purpose: The Divisional Ministry Associate will provide for the holistic ministry and mission of The Salvation Army. This will require that duties and responsibilities be adjusted as corps and DHQ have need and needs change with seasons, teaching emphasis, and local service priorities, all carries the intent of giving the corps assistance in times of need.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • This leadership position will provide temporary assistance to Corps in need of ministry help.
  • This role, as needed, will substitute in areas of teaching, preaching, and leading for divisional Corps.
  • Represent the Army at community events as assigned by DLOD
  • Participate in and support seasonal programs as assigned by DLOD
  • Work with other staff, public, clients, program participants, parents, community leaders, volunteers, community service workers, outside groups, and community residents.
  • Property upkeep and facility preparation for events as assigned by DLOD
  • Participate in home corps leadership groups such as Corps Council, Pastoral Care Council, and community outreach
  • Participate and assist in DHQ and Corps financial goals by observing the budgets and supporting fund-raising efforts.
  • This position must be available to travel throughout the division as needed or directed by DLOD.
  • This position will be required to work outside normal working hours, weekends and holidays as directed.
  • This position will aid in the absence of employees, assisting with interviews and assistance when CO needs assistance on projects.
  • Responsible to participate in Corps programming as needed throughout the division.
  • Assist the DLOD with multiple types of trainings and will also lead trainings as directed.
  • Driving is an essential function of the position.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

A minimum of six months' ministry experience within The Salvation Army. Must be Safe From Harm certified.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.




  • Must be a Christian with the intent to gain a deeper understanding and experience of Salvation Army ministry.
  • Must be a soldier in good standing at a local Salvation Army corps.
  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, attention to detail and filing.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.



Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Working Conditions: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but will range from quiet to loud.
