Job Overview:

As a Certified Medical Assistant in one of our physician practices, you will work alongside our physicians and other team members assisting with both administrative and clinical duties. Certified Medical Assistants play a vital role in the overall experience of the patient. From assisting patients with paperwork to helping doctors and nurses during exams, it's safe to say that medical assistants make any practice whole.

TRMC Women's Health Center is a busy center that services 80-100 clients each day, which offers GYN services as well as Prenatal Care, OB ultrasounds, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Nutrition and Diabetes education.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 year of medical assisting work experience
  • Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Social perceptiveness and service-oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in EMR systems

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Basic Life Support (BS) through the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 8:00-4:30pm each day
  • FT

Essential Functions:

  • Assisting the gynecologist or obstetrician during procedures
  • Assisting with holding techniques
  • Reinforcement of safety education to parents and patients
  • Infection control techniques for pediatrics and adults
  • Venipuncture techniques and processing of lab work
  • Clinitek testing and charting results
  • EKG and Transmittal
  • Collecting a patient's medical history
  • Explaining to the patient what will happen during their exam, treatment, or procedure
  • May work in areas where medications are stored. This includes checking for expiration dates for kits, trays with meds, IV fluids, needles, etc. rotating and stocking other supplies
  • Occasionally, transporting the tray/kit for the nurse or physician to provide patient care
  • Measuring vital signs
  • Check system for infusion pump drug rate, and concentration
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Answering emails and phone calls
  • Sort mail and faxes daily
  • File labs incharts
  • Retrieve labs & x-ray results in computer
  • Welcoming patients at the front desk
  • Coordinate laboratory services and patient disability forms
  • Obtaining prior Authorizations
  • Ordering supplies - checking instruments and expiration dates of supplies
  • Performing laboratory tests like sample collections or blood draws
  • TDS charge entry of specimens
  • Hemocue, Pregnancy tests, Precision PCx Glucose Testing and charting results
  • Implements appropriate skin care to maintain skin integrity
  • Interprets Med/Surg patient data and responses
  • Intervenes to support advanced directives being honored according to the patient's wishes
  • Demonstrates and assures the same for staff, competence in Emergency Response-Procedures
  • Preparing the patient for their examination
  • Providing information to the patient about their medications, special diets, or anything else they've been prescribed
  • Recognizes abnormal vital signs data and verbally reports the same directly to the RN caring for the patient
  • Medical/healthcare error reporting
  • Infant abduction prevention and response
  • Interdisciplinary, collaborative team approach to patient care planning
