Are you a hands-on accounting leader with a passion for building strong teams, streamlining processes, and driving financial excellence? Our client is seeking a Controller to lead their accounting operations and play a key role in supporting a fast-growing eCommerce and online retail business. This is a direct hire, on-site role reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.


What You'll Do


  • Oversee and manage all aspects of accounting operations, including monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with GAAP.



  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5 accounting professionals, balancing workloads and driving a collaborative, high-performance culture.



  • Ensure accurate and timely sales and use tax filings and other required business registrations.



  • Partner with external auditors and provide timely, accurate financial data for annual audits.



  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve efficiency through process enhancements, automation, and stronger reporting capabilities.



  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to support sound financial decision-making.



  • Assist the CFO with strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management initiatives.



  • Serve as a trusted partner on corporate financial decisions while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.




What We're Looking For


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.



  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience in eCommerce or online retail is REQUIRED.



  • Hands-on leadership style with proven ability to build, coach, and inspire high-performing teams.



  • Strong experience with sales and use tax compliance and financial systems (Sage experience preferred).



  • Track record of driving process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and accuracy.



  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and partner across all levels of the organization.
