DEPARTMENT: Great Falls Corps

STATUS: TEMPORARY/FULL TIME/NON-EXEMPT

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:



  • Must complete Protecting the Mission - child safety training within 30 days of hire.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and be a minimum of 21 years old.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • Must possess the ability to work as part of a dynamic, high performing team and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have the ability to relate positively to people from diverse backgrounds and communicate well with the general public.

SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS:



  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.



SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Christmas Kettles & Office Assistant is responsible for all aspects of the day to day operations of the Christmas Kettle Fundraising Program. This will include but is not limited to: scheduling and supervision of staff and volunteers as well as the placement and collection of red kettles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Ensure all equipment (signs, stands, kettles, bells, aprons) are clean and in good working order.
  • Ensure kettle signs and stands are delivered and stored according to store manager instructions prior to the first day of kettles.
  • Work with Corps Officer to hire and train paid Bell Ringers. Will be responsible for processing paperwork, communicating with bell ringers about paperwork and communication with DHQ, providing necessary paperwork components as requested.
  • Assist Corps Officer to develop the daily Bell Ringer/Driver schedule, coordinating with Corps Officer to incorporate volunteers.
  • Recruit and coordinate all volunteers who sign up for shifts at kettle sites. Prepare the necessary supplies for each volunteer and arrange to have items at the site for each volunteer shift.
  • Preform "spot checks" on staff and volunteers throughout the day to ensure The Salvation Army is being represented appropriately.
  • Collect and verify daily time slips for all paid staff to ensure accuracy.
  • Supervise counting the kettle money and ensuring money is prepared for deposit. Complete deposit paperwork to be submitted to DHQ regularly.
  • Enter daily income totals for each kettle and each worker's time in the specified program (Register to Ring, etc.)
  • Assist with Angel tree program: recruiting businesses to host, making calls, assisting with tag distribution, and creating spreadsheets for food gift card distributions.
  • Troubleshoot issues that may hinder successful daily kettle operations.
  • Travel to and monitor Bell Ringer / site productivity and work with Corps Officer to make adjustments as necessary.
  • Be familiar with and ensure seasonal staff and volunteers maintain Protecting the Mission compliance.
  • Adherence to employee dress codes while working.
  • Other seasonal duties as assigned by Corps Officers.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
  • Ability to operate telephone
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer


  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer
  • Ability to understand written information



Working Conditions:

Work is typically performed in a normal office environment but will occasionally require travel in a TSA vehicle throughout the community. Will be exposed to winter weather during this travel.

Work Schedule / Location:

Monday through Friday, with some Saturday hours/In-person at The Salvation Army Great Falls Corps. Hours will vary, basic schedule 9am - 3pm.
