Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
UNC-Chapel Hill collaborates with nearby NC State University to extend both universities' temporary staffing power by operating as a shared service for both institutions. Under this partnership,
University Temporary Services (UTS) provides exclusive temporary staffing services to
UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State, employing candidates to work as temporary employees in a variety of jobs on both campuses.
Working at the one of these prestigious universities provides employees with the opportunity to gain valuable on-campus experience and references while acquiring and refining skills needed for a successful career. Positions vary in length from several days to several months and we offer part-time and full-time schedules.

Position Summary |
The primary responsibility of this position is to support the operations of the department by efficiently handling incoming and outgoing property. This includes loading and unloading items, stocking shelves, and ensuring accurate inventory management. The role also involves assisting customers with property viewings and purchases, optimizing warehouse space utilization, maintaining communication across departments, and upholding cleanliness and organization standards. The individual must be capable of safely lifting up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations and performing additional duties as assigned.
Duties:
- Load and unload Surplus/Warehouse items, ensuring proper handling and organization.
- Receive and inspect shipments, stock shelves, and verify inventory accuracy.
- Assist customers with property viewings and facilitate the transfer of purchased items.
- Coordinate the placement of property to maximize warehouse space efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with management and other departments regarding warehouse operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse and Surplus Property areas.
- Safely lift and move items up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support warehouse operations.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalent.
|
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to drive light/medium trucks and forklift
- Can be trained/licensed on forklift if necessary

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Minimum 1 year of experience preferred.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Must be able to lift 80 pounds continually through the day with or without reasonable accommodation. |
