Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Brand Management + Marketing the incumbent will provide support and oversight of the UC Davis Health brand while also serving as a marketing lead to support organizational entities (departments, programs, initiatives) including supervision of key marketing staff members. The incumbent will be considered a primary brand steward responsible for overseeing and advancing brand standards and educating, advising, and mentoring health system partners on the standards. Extensive interaction with stakeholder groups is required as well as coordination with Public Affairs and Marketing teams to achieve department wide and organizational goals. The incumbent will create marketing campaigns that are consistent with brand direction and assuring organizational alignment to support specific marketing objectives. Role includes supervision of marketing and support staff based on department organizational needs.

This role may, at times, require a rigorous schedule and workload, including extended hours, travel and the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, business, marketing or related field.
  • 10+ years experience working in marketing and/or brand positions developing brand and marketing strategies.
  • Experience as a brand manager/ambassador in capacity of upholding and reinforcing brand standards for an organization.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience supervising support staff in a creative capacity.
  • Experience developing and implementing comprehensive marketing plans.
  • Experience with managing both traditional and digital media campaigns.
  • Experience researching and analyzing information to identify trends, issues and potential invalid data.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively, courteously, and cooperatively with a wide range of individuals, including faculty/physicians and staff; business professionals; patients; consumers; and vendors.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships throughout the University, health system and community.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, including metrics-driven thinking.
  • Skilled reporting on progress of projects for informal briefings, formal presentations and more.
  • Excellent organizational skills: ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; prioritize work independently; manage and meet multiple deadlines, work quickly and with minimal supervision, showing independent judgment, accuracy, and initiative.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and recommend and/or implement changes and solutions.
  • Ability to write clear and concise business communications, with accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills to produce clear, error-free documents.
  • Advanced proficiency with all MS Office applications, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to enter data quickly and accurately, verify accuracy and generate reports and lists.
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as part of a collaborative team to accomplish multiple, high-priority tasks; be highly resourceful.
  • Ability to react with flexibility and patience to maintain efficiency and accuracy under pressure created by heavy workload, shifting priorities and multiple requests.
  • Exceptional customer-service skills including problem-solving, cooperative language, empathy, flexibility, and the ability to work with clients and staff within the department for quick and effective responses and problem-resolution.
  • Ability and willingness to support institutional customer service requirements.
  • Ability to interpret UC Davis and UC Davis Health policy and procedures, laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy rights, copyrights, and public information.
  • Ability to always maintain and understand the need for professionalism.
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to the UC Davis Principles of Community and CLAS Standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CRM experience.
  • Working knowledge of project management software, preferably Wrike.
  • Knowledge of AP style.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of health care operations in a managed care environment, including understanding of interrelationship between health plan, medical group, and provider selection.
  • Knowledge of UC Davis Health and its services, locations, and accepted health plans.
  • Knowledge of and experience with trafficking of advertisements across multiple mediums.

Work Environment
