Location Profile:

Headquartered in Irvine, CA, Shur-Lok manufactures fastening systems with superior locking devices for critical requirements including engine module assembly, structural assembly, rotor blade attachment, and aircraft engine shaft and spindle applications. Operations at the Irvine location include CNC Machining, CNC Waterjet Cutting, Laser Marking, Heat Treating, NDT, and EDM.

Position Summary:

Selected candidates for a Paint Operator position will be expected to successfully apply all common water and solvent reducible corrosion resistant epoxy primers on a diversity of substrates and intermediate product configurations, (geometries) using conventional HVLP equipment in pressure, siphon and gravity fed variants. Candidates for these positions shall be fully familiar with proper equipment setup including production air and pot pressures, fluid/air mixtures and fan adjustments as well as proper gun angles distance and speed as they relate to specific part geometries and unique coating characteristics. Additionally, these individuals should have a basic understanding of the cause and effect of common paint defects and the necessary adjustments for elimination of noted defects. These operators will be expected to maintain terminal equipment in good working order throughout the production cycle. Level 2 candidates will be expected to control wet/dry film coating thicknesses IAW noted prescribed requirements. These individuals should be qualified in associated support functions such as racking, turning and sanding operations as well as equipment maintenance and paint mixing operations. As a condition of assignment, level 2 Paint Operator candidates may be expected to process product controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or Export Administration Regulations. As such these candidates may be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, Legal Permanent Residence or protected status as a Non-Citizen National of the U.S.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Reviewing and assimilating work instructions specific to paint type, dimensional tolerance and thickness considerations.
• Loading, adjustment, basic troubleshooting and light maintenance of conventional HVLP coating equipment in remote pressure, siphon and gravity fed variants.
• Successful application of all common organic primer finishes to a variety of substrates and simple to intermediate part configurations, (geometries) and the ability to maintain specified dry film thickness requirements.
• Understanding and maintaining best safety practices in accordance with prescribed directives.

Required Skills:

• Excellent hand/eye coordination, practical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent vision whether or not corrected including normal color vision.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills.
• Ability to utilize necessary safety equipment such as grade D air hoods/masks, Tyvek suits, neoprene gloves and safety eyewear.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods with limited movement.
• Good working knowledge of conventional HVLP application equipment in pressure, gravity and siphon fed variants including setup, adjustments and basic troubleshooting.
• The ability to successfully apply common epoxy primers on all simple to intermediate product geometries within specified parameters for dry film thickness.
• An understanding of product conservation techniques which maximize coatings and minimize waste.

Required Experience:

• Experience relative to 1 year minimum specific to the application of all common aerospace primers on a variety of substrates and intermediate product configurations, (geometries).
• NESHAP Operator Certification Training IAW 40 CFR Part 63 Subpart HHHHHH. Company will provide for relevant training/testing as necessary to ensure compliance)
