Job Description:

The People of Southwest Airlines come together to deliver on our Purpose, which is to connect People to what's important in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel. The Manager HR Tech invests in the future of Southwest's People by supporting the People Systems Team and serves as a liaison between our Technology and Business partners. This role oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of all our HR Tech Applications. In addition, this role collaborates with the People Department Leadership Team to deliver strategic advisory related to functional systems implementation, release management, and escalated issue resolution. The Manager HR Tech is a strong communicator who's passionate about mentoring and supporting their Team while driving the future of Southwest.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with key Stakeholders to determine project requirements and objectives
  • Identify impediments and potential solutions; challenge the status quo to improve quality, predictability, flow, and velocity
  • Identify project needs such as resources, staff, or finances by reviewing project objectives and schedules
  • Monitor project milestones and deliverables
  • Monitor the performance of project Team Members to provide performance feedback
  • Partner with Senior Leaders, Business Partners, and vendors to provide ongoing direction and alignment to drive projects to completion
  • Work together with Senior Stakeholders and Customers across the organization to inform the product vision, strategy, features, and prioritization
  • May perform other job duties as required by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing Customer and personal services including Customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of Customer Satisfaction
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among unrelated events)
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading Team(s)
  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
    • Supporting systems including troubleshooting issues, new implementations, and release management
    • Managing technology projects
  • Preferred, Workday Configuration in the following:
    • Payroll
    • HR
    • Talent Acquisition
    • Talent Management
    • Compensation
    • Advanced Compensation
    • Adaptive Planning
    • Workday Help
    • Workday Assistant
    • Workday Security
  • Preferred:
    • Experience working within an Agile environment

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits

  • Competitive market salary from $138,800 - $154,200 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
