Standards Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and process focused Standards Specialist to join our Quality and Operations team. The Standards Specialist is responsible for defining, maintaining, and improving product and operational standards to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across manufacturing processes. This role supports continuous improvement, drives standard work procedures, and ensures alignment with internal and external requirements.

What You Will Do

  • Develop, maintain, and update standard work procedures, process documentation, and visual aids to ensure consistency and clarity across production lines
  • Conduct regular audits, gap analyses, and walkthroughs to verify adherence to standards, identify deviations, and recommend corrective or preventive actions
  • Analyze process data such as process performance metrics, defect rates, and downtime causes to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process improvements
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams such as Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, Quality to embed standard practices, share best practices, and ensure alignment with operational goals
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce variation, enhance safety, and improve product quality
  • Support onboarding and training of employees on standard work methods, process controls, and documentation protocols
  • Maintain documentation control systems, ensure version integrity of standard-work documents, and facilitate communication of changes to relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare reports summarizing standard compliance, deviation trends, completed improvements, and associated metrics

What You Need to Have

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent); additional technical training or certifications preferred
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing or process environment, working with standard work, SOPs, operational audits, or continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as 5S, root cause analysis (RCA), DMAIC, visual management, mistake proofing such as poka-yoke
  • Proficient in data analysis, metrics tracking, and reporting, including using tools like Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to maintain documentation consistency, version control, and change tracking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, training, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead audits, facilitate corrective/preventive actions, and influence cross-functional partners toward standardization
  • Experience working with ERP or MES, previous experience in food or packaging manufacturing, and knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance relevant to manufacturing environments are preferred
  • Certification such as Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean, or similar continuous improvement credentials a plus
