We are seeking a Senior Communications Coordinator to join our PR and Communications team within the law firm's Marketing and Business Development department. This position will work with communications, marketing and business development colleagues both in the US and globally. This position will support day-to-day communications activity, including media relations, internal communications, awards and rankings, bios and social media.

We are seeking a candidate with a public relations or communications background and experience in a corporate environment, preferably in professional services. This position can be based in Dallas, Houston or Austin.

This highly motivated, detail-oriented individual will support the US Director and Global Head of PR and Communications along with the PR and Communications team's managers by providing strategic thinking and tactical support of initiatives. These initiatives include:

  • Enhancing the public profile of the firm
  • Providing assistance to lawyers related to communications efforts
  • Promoting collaboration throughout the firm

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing press releases, new hire announcements, award nominations and website stories
  • Coordinating lawyer review and final signoff for news items
  • Assisting in the development of internal newsletters
  • Overseeing firm lawyers' website bios, including preparation and ongoing updates
  • Contributing to the development of publication surveys, legal directory submissions and other firm-related communications
  • Identifying publicity opportunities to highlight the firm, its lawyers and its practices
  • Supporting the firm's social media efforts, including occasionally leading Instagram campaigns
  • Contributing to the firm's internal communications efforts and supporting targeted campaigns
  • Delivering internal firm communications using email software
  • Monitoring news websites to identify awards opportunities and track deadlines
  • Collaborating with the firm's PR agency to help support press coverage and coordinate bylines
  • Overseeing media monitoring efforts, which includes tracking coverage and internal reporting

Skills and experience required:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a professional services or business sector environment; ideally with some understanding of law firms
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrable writing, proofreading and editing experience
  • Understanding of and adherence to AP Style
  • Strong understanding of the news production process
  • Writing experience across multiple mediums, including social medial, print and web
  • Understands the need and has the ability to manage expectations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • Proven organizational skills with project management experience and multitasking abilities
  • Hands-on experience using all programs under the Microsoft Suite (including direct experience with PowerPoint and advanced functions within Excel)
  • Self-directed, highly motivated and results-driven with problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a legal and/or professional services environment preferred
  • Some overtime is required
