Job Title: QA Tester & Business Systems Analyst, Associate

Job Overview: LCG is seeking a skilled Application Tester with strong Business Analysis capabilities to support application enhancements and new system development within a dynamic, agile team environment. This individual will be responsible for the end-to-end testing process and requirement, ensuring that all deliverables meet both functional and business expectations. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. They will serve as a key liaison between developers, project management, system administrators, and end users - ensuring that requirements are clearly defined, thoroughly tested, and successfully implemented. This role involves manual functional testing, documentation of test cases, requirements, and user guides, and active participation throughout the project lifecycle - from initiation through implementation and user acceptance testing (UAT).

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Management



  • Collaborate with stakeholders at the initiation of each project to gather, analyze, and document detailed business and functional requirements, under the guidance of scrum master and product owner.
  • Translate user and business needs into clear, actionable user stories for development and testing.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure requirements are technically feasible and well understood before implementation.
  • Support review and approval process for requirements documentation.
  • Prepare and contribute to the comprehensive user guides and documentation to support application releases and user adoption.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between business users, technical teams, and project leadership to clarify requirements and ensure alignment.


Quality Assurance & Testing



  • Participating in the QA process including test planning, test design, test case execution, defect tracking, and retesting after issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, test procedures, and testing documentation for each release.
  • Execute manual testing to verify system functionality, regression coverage, and integration accuracy across multiple applications.
  • Ensure test coverage aligns directly with defined business requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Support and develop process and provide UAT test plans and test cases for the business user group to execute during acceptance testing.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, system administrators, Scrum Masters, and PMs to track testing outcomes and coordinate fixes.
  • Ensure defect-free application implementation outcomes by maintaining thorough pre-release testing, identifying potential issues early, and validating requirements alignment.


Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement



  • Engage continuously with business users, developers, Scrum Masters, and system administrators to ensure consistent communication and visibility across project phases.
  • Support the user community during UAT by providing structured workflows, test documentation, and testing guidance.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint reviews, backlog refinement, and stand-ups) to stay aligned with project priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams from both internal and client-side organizations to ensure shared understanding of goals and deliverables.


Performance & Quality Metrics



  • Maintain a strong focus on requirement clarity and documentation quality to prevent ambiguity and downstream defects.
  • Maintain accountability through consistent documentation, communication, and quality of work.


Qualifications



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience:


    • At least 2+ years of experience in software testing and business analysis.
    • Proven background in manual testing, including test planning, documentation, and execution.
    • Experience gathering and managing requirements and writing user documentation or guides.
    • Experience collaborating within an Agile/Scrum environment and using tools such as Azure DevOps.


  • Technical Skills:


    • Strong understanding of SDLC, QA methodologies, and software testing Agile best practices.
    • Familiarity with tracking tools (Azure DevOps or similar) for user stories, bugs, and test management.


  • Soft Skills:


    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
    • Highly organized with strong analytical and documentation abilities.
    • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within small, cross-functional teams.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask across multiple projects or workstreams.



  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Certification: ISTQB Agile Tester
    • The ideal candidate will already be NIH badged.
    • Experience working within federal or enterprise IT environments and familiarity with structured project governance.
    • Background as a tester who evolved into a business analyst, with a holistic understanding of both roles.
    • Demonstrated ability to create end-user documentation and release readiness efforts.




Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $29.00/hr to $37.00/hr benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. The target salary is $65,000 for this role. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
