Scientific Support Engineer Bethesda, MD Pay From: $100,000 per year MUST: Experienced Scientific Support Engineer 4+ years of relevant professional experience in desktop, end-user, or scientific computing support. Demonstrated expertise in Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment. Experience supporting scientific computing and end-user environments. Proven experience managing customer expectations and delivering high-quality customer service. Proficiency with ServiceNow for queue management and ticket fulfillment. Advanced technical knowledge in supporting scientific researchers and specialized lab systems and equipment. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). Experience supporting laboratory instrumentation and data acquisition systems. Working knowledge of network configuration and troubleshooting (DHCP, DNS, VLANs, wireless). Familiarity with conference room AV systems and hybrid meeting technologies. Experience supporting IT peripherals such as VoIP, multifunction printers, and more. Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Applied Science, or a related technical field. DUTIES: Serve as a specialized technician supporting the unique technology needs of scientific research staff and laboratory environments. Apply advanced understanding of scientific research methods, tools, and workflows to ensure that laboratory users can effectively perform computational and data-driven tasks. Serve as Subject Matter Expert in Windows, Mac, and Linux enterprise computing environments within an Active Directory domain, as well as in ITB's Windows, Linux, and Mac system management tools. Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for scientific systems, specialized instruments, and research computing software. Support virtualization platforms and maintain associated computing environments. Troubleshoot and support networking hardware and software, including DHCP, Subnetting, DNS, VLANs, and both wired and wireless LAN configurations. Support and maintain conference room audiovisual (AV) equipment and infrastructure. Provide technical support for VoIP systems, fax machines, multifunction copiers, large-format printers, and other laboratory or IT peripherals.
