VDC ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER

The VDC Assistant Project Manager supports the planning and execution of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) activities across assigned projects. This role focuses on implementing BIM and VDC tasks as defined in the BIM Execution Plan, maintaining VDC content and standards, and contributing to marketing and estimating efforts as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or equivalent AEC industry experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with BIM execution and supporting VDC planning and implementation at the project level.


Preferred:



  • Experience setting up and managing projects in Revizto.
  • Familiarity with laser scanning, including planning, data processing, and deliverable creation.
  • Part 107 certification preferred; experience using drones and associated software to support project documentation.
  • Experience with 360 photo platforms and understanding of progress-tracking best practices.
  • Experience with 4D/5D phase planning and animation using Fuzor, Synchro Pro, or similar software.
  • Experience creating 3D virtual mockups for project team collaboration.
  • Familiarity with programming tools such as Dynamo or Python.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.


Skills:



  • Intermediate knowledge of construction delivery models, documentation, and sequencing.
  • Strong understanding of building systems and construction workflows.
  • Ability to train and support less experienced VDC staff on tools and processes.
  • Willingness and capability to educate non-VDC staff on relevant tools and workflows.
  • Demonstrates curiosity and a commitment to learning new technologies and methodologies that advance BIM, VDC, and LEAN practices.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).


Office and Travel:



  • This position requires that the individual be onsite full-time for the duration of the project in Ellendale, ND.


Responsibilities and tasks:



  • Support VDC Project Managers in the creation and execution of VDC deliverables for assigned projects.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating VDC content libraries and standard work documentation.
  • Develop 3D models for site logistics, phase planning, virtual mockups, and MEP coordination.
  • Utilize BIM for visualization, constructability reviews, and design coordination.
  • Participate in meetings to define VDC scope, approach, and budget for projects and pursuits.
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of BIM Execution Plans.
  • Create and manage 2D/3D/4D/5D deliverables using Revit, Navisworks, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Fuzor, and cmBuilder per project requirements.
  • Support and facilitate 3D coordination and clash detection efforts with design teams, subcontractors, and fabricators.
  • Provide training and technical support to project team members on accessing and using VDC deliverables and BIM tools.
  • Contribute lessons learned and support continuous improvement across VDC processes.
  • Document VDC success stories to support marketing and pursuit efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a workstation or during meetings and travel (by plane or car). The employee must be able to lift up to 20 pounds as needed, demonstrate dexterity to write and use a computer keyboard and mouse, and possess the ability to hear, speak clearly, and distinguish colors on graphs and charts.

The role also requires occasional visits to construction sites, where the employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
