Sigma Defense is seeking a General Engineering Intern to join our team in Perry, GA. The selected candidate will work as part of a larger manufacturing and engineering team and be trained to assemble, integrate, and test components and systems by interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and detailed assembly instructions. The candidate will assist team members in establishing and maintaining product quality. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions to assemble, test, and operate intricate electronic and mechanical parts critical for reliable and high-performance communications equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to differentiate between typical electrical wiring colors (red, green, yellow, blue, etc).
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Able to utilize manual dexterity for assembling and handling small electronic components.
  • Experience with Computer Assembly, Networking, Cable Manufacturing, Soldering, and Telecommunications is preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Cisco networking concepts and satellite communications concepts a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

  • The candidate will assemble various components such as wires, circuit boards, and connectors to build complete devices or subassemblies.
  • The candidate will interpret technical diagrams, specifications, and assembly instructions to understand component placement and test procedures.
  • The candidate will use a variety of tools, power tools, and specialized equipment like soldering irons and electronic/networking test equipment.
  • The candidate will perform rigorous testing and inspection on assembled equipment ensuring quality control.
  • The candidate will assist in troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving issues in units that fail performance tests or do not meet quality standards.
  • The candidate will be responsible for recording manufacturing information and documenting assembly and test procedures and results.
  • Requisitions, receives, stores, issues, segregates, cares, preserves, inspects and accurately inventories equipment and repair parts.
  • Accurately document completion of all work throughout the production work cycle, ensure accuracy of order fulfillment, parts consumption, and parts location tracking.

Hourly Pay: $25.00 per hour.
