Acara Solutions seeks highly qualified candidates to work ON-SITE with our client in West Mifflin, PA. Interested?

Here's what you'd do:

  • This person will be working directly with the engineering team and the manufacturing operations team.
  • There will be considerable visibility for this role - the manager reports to both regional and global stakeholders.
  • There will be a significant amount of documentation related to processes and safety standards for this role that needs to be delivered on time.
  • A background in lean manufacturing is critical for this role.
  • Alert in case of deviation.
  • Manage corrective actions when necessary.
  • Propose improvements when relevant.
  • Manage Engineering Quality audits.
  • Manage the no recurrent list top issue and check recurrence in project execution.
  • Lead the REX committee and integrate the return of experience in the Engineering standard and golden rules.
  • Ensures that Tender Design Review and Tender Gate Review are implemented, monitored and maintained.
  • Optimise the DFQ checklist for Engineering deliverables and Design Review.
  • Implement REX in the DFQ checklist for Engineering deliverables and the Design Review checklist.
  • Attend and prepare Tender Gate Review and product development.
  • To check the quality status of Engineering deliverables, including REX.
  • Support GR preparation regarding the Engineering scope.
  • To ensure the quality of the Engineering Supplier (engineering sub-contractors).
  • To link engineering and manufacturing engineering (design for manufacturing).
  • Deploy process/product FMEA critical Characteristics.
  • Challenge and check the consistency of the Design Review vs Project Risks.
  • Ensure that DRs are well-prepared and fueled for the GR process.
  • Follow the action plan and update the Design Review status.
  • Ensure that the problem-solving process is applied correctly and meets the objectives.
  • Make sure that the Engineering team is included in the Customer issues-solving process (if needed).
  • To update Quality Engineering KPIs and propose action plans for improvement when necessary.
  • Propose and follow up on action plans for improvement.

Here's what you'll get:

Pay: $36.00 - $48.00 /hr.

Hours: 40 hrs/Week.

Length: Temp to Direct (6 months).

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing Quality tools and problem-solving methodology.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Electromechanical or Electrical or Material or Mechanical or Computer Sciences.
  • Master's Degree.
  • An ideal candidate will need to be able to work independently.
  • An ideal candidate will have good attention to detail and follow processes, even if there is pressure to stray outside the SOP.
  • Looking to hire someone with a good personality who can stand their ground - a lot of legacy BT employees at the site who are struggling to adapt to client policies and procedures.
  • Rail background (manager came from GM).
  • Understand the how/why of manufacturing.
  • They are willing to go out on the floor to see first-hand the operations.
  • Looking for someone seasoned with a good work ethic and willingness to work.
  • Knowledge of the railway industry (norms, certifications*) would be an asset.
  • Awareness of Processes and Products delivered in the project.
  • Experience in quality assurance, audit, and software quality assurance.
  • Rigorous and ability to deal with different projects and missions.
  • Sense of synthesis and managing complex issues.
  • Collaboration/Teamwork and Customer-oriented.
  • Fluent in English.
