Project Overview The Center for Dissemination and Implementation Science (CDIS) within the Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a graduate research assistant to support an NIH-funded study addressing health disparities and sexual and reproductive health practices among Latina teens (14-18 years old). In partnership with community-based organizations throughout the Chicagoland area and drawing on an implementation science approach, we will deliver the Floreciendo sexual and reproductive health program to Latina teens and their female caregivers (mothers, aunts, sisters, etc.) as part of a pilot randomized optimization trial. Workshops take place on the weekends at community partners in the Chicagoland area. A community advisory board is guiding all aspects of the research, which uses community-based participatory research principles. The study is funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. We seek a graduate RA to support with the delivery of workshops. Position Summary The Graduate Research Assistant will administer questionnaires and feedback forms to study participants in English and Spanish. This position will also assist with workshop logistics and contribute to data entry, management, and analysis. The Graduate Research Assistant will perforn administrative tasks, such as contributing to IRB submissions and taking meeting notes. - 10 hours per week. Duties & Responsibilities - Consenting study participants in English and Spanish - Administering questionnaires to study participants in English and Spanish - Administering feedback forms to study participants in English and Spanish - Conducting STI testing among teen participants (training will be provided) - Observing workshops - Assisting with workshop logistics as needed - Contributing to data entry, management, and analysis - Contributing to the activities of our community advisory board - Performing administrative tasks, such as contributing to IRB submissions and taking meeting notes - Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish. Currently enrolled in a master's or doctoral program in public health, social work, psychiatry, or other related social science field. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with MS Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Strong organizational skills. Must be available to travel to community partner organizations throughout the Chicagoland area to support workshop delivery on weekends (primarily Saturdays). Preferred Qualifications Research experience with Latino teens and/or families.
