About the Team

The Pottery Barn Visual Merchandising Team is responsible for creating compelling seasonal floor sets in partnership with cross functional merchant partners, while maximizing retails sales and supporting our brands big bets. It is our job to attract and retain customers by delivering an outstanding and engaging customer experience through visual merchandising. We want to draw customers into our Pottery Barn retail stores by having innovative displays that inspire and catch the attention of our customers. We want to ensure that each seasonal floor set is densified to maximize POS businesses and drive brand reappraisal.

About the Role

This position is responsible for creating and producing all visual communications directed to the field. You will partner with our team and cross functional teams to create the overall vision and feel for retail while directing the production of all communications, participating in visual floorsets, and mock store set-ups.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

  • Direct the development and execution of the seasonal visual style guides and mid-season memos; including writing copy, manipulating graphics, layout, photos, etc.

  • Outline photobook timelines on the Visual Merchandising calendar to ensure all production projects are executed on time

  • Execute weekly visual memos, off cycle updates and related Store Ops communications

  • Develop and produce all visual training materials by transferring and formatting information from merchant excel documents to adobe programs

  • Manage and continually develop the PB Visual Communication SharePoint website

  • Manage an archive of visual photobooks, seasonal photos, weekly visual memos

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross functional partners and vendors through collaboration and proactive communication

  • Occasional travel to stores to assist with visual floorsets

  • Assist the Visual Merchandising Team with styling during mock store set-ups

  • Contribute to the sharing of inspiration and idea generation

  • Partner with all functions of the visual merchandising department to support a cohesive visual strategy

We're excited about you because...

  • 1 year of experience in visual merchandising or a related creative field

  • BS/BA required in design, art or related degree
  • Previous project management experience in a deadline driven environment

  • Prioritize projects effectively and organize workload based on urgency and importance
  • Ability to set realistic short and long-term goals

  • Excellent communication skills: written & verbal

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to self-edit

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Correctly identify problems and is resourceful in finding solutions
  • Knowledge in visual merchandising techniques, standards and practices - how this translates to the field
  • Ability to work with tools and be mobile when setting floor sets for extended periods of time

  • Ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 50 lbs., while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques

Technical Competencies required:

  • MAC computer skills including excellent knowledge of the Adobe Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Etc.

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365; Outlook, Exel, Onedrive, SharePoint, Word

The expected starting pay range for this position is $55,800 -$60,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
