Overview |
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Administrative Assistant for
SEBS - Snyder Farm. This position provides administrative support to the Director of the Snyder Research & Extension Farm located in Pittstown NJ as well as faculty and staff to ensure compliance and functional operations of the farm. The farm conducts agricultural and natural resource research and demonstration projects and outreach activities and public events including a large open house every August.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Prepares and reviews financial and personnel documents for Snyder Farm.
- Monitors and maintains supply inventory and absence reporting for unit staff.
- Coordinates with the Office of Finance & Administration leasing agreements and billing of plot/co-allocation charges.
- Processes HR and payroll functions related to the hiring of staff and seasonal employees.
- Supports the Director and Snyder Farm Personnel.
- Handles duties such as answering phones, scheduling meetings, recording minutes, and coordinating meetings held at the farm.
- Keeps updated on all relevant policies and procedures.
- Works with various internal departments and vendors on projects such as Institutional Planning and Operations, Information Technology, etc.
- Acts as coordinator for the farm's yearly Open House held August.
- Initiates and oversees timely and successful purchasing of equipment and supplies.
- Assists Director in facilitating an expanded use of the Farm by faculty, staff students, alumni and 4-H youth audiences for research and extension projects, events and tours.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or report writing.
