POSITION TITLE: Athletics Program Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (Kroc Center Hawaii)
SUPERVISOR: Athletics Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Hourly $12.50 - $18.50 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY: The Athletics Program Assistant will assist the Athletics Manager in duties related to Athletics programming at Kroc Center Hawaii. This person must possess effective verbal and written communications and fill in as a leader when scheduling requires. Ability to work with all ethnic and socio-economic populations. Possesses sensitivity and awareness of diverse cultural perspectives and the ability to work with diverse populations.

The Athletics Program Assistant will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
3. Ability to learn new software; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
4. Service-oriented team player with initiative, adaptability, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
5. Strong interpersonal, phone, and communication skills (oral and written).
6. Valid Hawaii Driver's License and insured transportation (or ability to obtain within 10 days).
7. Ability to understand and communicate the Christian mission and values of The Salvation Army.
8. Professional attitude, problem-solving skills, and strong motivational and management abilities.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience supporting program management and collaborating with volunteers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Work scheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends.
2. Support planning, coordination, and delivery of athletics programs and activities.
3. Collaborate with coaches and instructors to develop program curriculum, contribute to long-term vision planning, and assist in program delivery.
4. Assist gym attendants, coaches, and volunteers in understanding and aligning with The Salvation Army's mission and policies.
5. Help organize and facilitate ongoing staff training and screenings.
6. Coordinate logistics with vendors and specialty instructors as needed.
7. Maintain accurate records, including data entry, statistics, registration files, attendance logs, waivers, and staff documentation.
8. Assist with inventory and supplies, including budgeting, ordering, and tracking.
9. Communicate with parents regarding injuries, behavior, scheduling, and other concerns.
10. Help address participant and parent concerns calmly and professionally; provide excellent customer service.
11. Support planning and coordination of safe, educational field trips.
12. Collaborate with other departments to integrate athletics programming into broader initiatives.
13. Participate in staff and management meetings; promote positive collaboration across teams.
14. Maintain professional interactions with staff, volunteers, and community members.
15. Follow Salvation Army fleet procedures and participate in annual safety certification.
16. Adhere to all Salvation Army policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:

The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephone; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies.
EQUIPMENT NEEDS:
Equipment: Proficient with current Microsoft software computer programs including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet, and standard office equipment and systems.

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:
1. Candidate must have a valid driver's license and insured transportation and participate in The Salvation Army's Fleet Safety Program on an annual basis.
2. Current First Aid, CPR and AED certification required (May be acquired within 90 Day Probation)
