The School of Arts and Sciences (
SAS) at Rutgers University is the largest academic unit of the University and is comprised of 41 academic departments spanning humanities, social, physical and life sciences and over 100 different majors, plus programs, centers, bureaus and institutes.
SAS has a membership of over 2,000 permanent and temporary faculty (instructional and research), teaching and graduate assistants, part-time lecturers, and post-doctoral appointees, and over 500 administrative staff.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences within the School of Arts and Sciences. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations and in collaboration with the Social and Behavioral Sciences Business Specialist and Center directors, the Program Coordinator I delivers comprehensive support to
SBS area centers and affiliated units. This role is responsible for coordinating programs, projects, curricular activities and related operations while ensuring the effective management of records, statistics, reports, and documents.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides assistance with divisional projects and initiatives and serves as back up preparer for the SBS division.
- Prioritizes tasks and resolves routine conflicts.
- Develops and implements administrative guidelines and procedures.
- Plans, organizes and executes programming and other events, and meeting arrangements.
- Creates and disseminates informational and marketing materials.
- Maintains listservs, websites, and databases while providing direct administrative support to center directors.
- Processes administrative documents and data to align with the unit's mission, vision, and goals.
- Supports research activities, handles fiscal functions and acts as a liaison within and outside the unit.
- Navigates both routine and complex tasks.
- Handles fiscal management, grant support, procurement, expense reimbursement, course scheduling, and human resources/academic personnel processes.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant work in program coordination or administrative function or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of academic faculty and student affairs, office administration, work organization and coordination.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Knowledge of academic operations.
- Experience with Rutgers or other university applications (Cornerstone, Oracle, SAS portal, Concur, ROCS) or previous work experience in a university environment.
- Familiarity with working with faculty and students.
- Understanding of undergraduate and graduate programs.
