Title:Senior Associate Director of Athletics Facilities and Projects

Occupational Summary

The Senior Associate Director of Athletics Facilities and Projects is a key leadership role within Duke Athletics, responsible for the oversight, operation, and strategic management of all football-related facilities within the Duke Athletics footprint. This position ensures that facilities are maintained to the highest standards, support the needs of student-athletes and staff, and reflects the excellence of Duke University. The Senior Associate Director of Athletics Facilities and Projects work closely with both internal and external constituents, including Duke University campus departments, outside contractors, groups requesting use of Athletic spaces and Atlantic Coast Conference, and NCAA officials as well as Duke University Athletics coaches, staff, and guests.

Essential Functions:

* Oversee daily operations, scheduling, grounds maintenance, and general upkeep for all football facilities, including:

- Pascal Fieldhouse

- Brooks Locker Room

- Brooks Practice Facility

- Wallace Wade Stadium

- Yoh Football Building

- Blue Devil Tower

* Serve as liaison to the Campus Recreation Department for scheduling needs within Pascal Fieldhouse.

* Coordinate with the Facilities Management Department (FMD) for routine maintenance and serve as departmental liaison:

- Submit, schedule, and oversee all work order maintenance requests.

- Conduct weekly walk-throughs of athletic facilities to identify maintenance needs, verify completion of work orders, and uphold standards consistent with a Division I, Power 4 football program.

* Act as liaison to Landscape Services for routine maintenance, project planning, and scheduling for football facilities:

- Perform weekly walk-throughs of athletic fields and landscaped areas to assess completed work and identify short- and long-term maintenance needs.

* Oversee scheduling, usage policies, and access control for football facilities.

* Develop and distribute weekly facility schedules using Virtual Event Management Systems (VEMS) software.

* Manage daily business operations of the department, including:

- Oversight of cart rentals and maintenance services.

- Coordination of departmental Grainger orders.

* Lead game management planning and execution:

- Coordinate pre-season facility preparation and setup.

- Organize and manage game week facility setup and post-game strike.

- Oversee waste operations, including pre-planning, game week coordination, and game day liaison duties with Sanitation & Recycling, Landscape Services, Housekeeping, and contracted services.

- Coordinate post-season facility strike.

* Plan, operate, and manage all aspects of non-revenue events (e.g., Commencement, campus events) and revenue-generating events (e.g., concerts, facility rentals) in football facilities, in collaboration with Senior Associate Director for Special Events, Assistant Athletic Director for Game Operations, Championships & Events, and Deputy Athletic Director for Capital Projects and Operations

* Provide operational support for Men's and Women's Basketball, ACC/NCAA Championships, and Olympic Sports as assigned.

* Mentor and support student interns as requested and assigned.

* Assist with card access requests, key management, fingerprint access, and other tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletic Facilities or Deputy Athletic Director.

* Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure optimal facility performance, safety, and readiness for practices, games, and events.

* Develop and manage budgets related to facility operations and facility rentals

* Plan and execute facility improvement projects, renovations, and capital upgrades in collaboration with the Deputy Athletic Director for Capital Projects and Operations and the Director of Capital Projects:

- Collaborate with university departments, architects, contractors, and consultants to ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, and institutional standards.

- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior leadership.

* Manage the Facility Monitor Program to support after-hours facility operations:

- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise part-time staff responsible for evening and weekend facility monitoring.

- Develop and implement training materials, operational protocols, and performance evaluations.

* Coordinate supplemental parking for student-athletes and staff as directed by the Director of Athletic Facilities.

Work requires organization, communication and comprehension skills generally acquired through two years post secondary education.


Experience

Work requires the ability to plan, implement and coordinate activities involved in building management and related ancillary operations generally acquired through three years related experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

* Ability to learn quickly and communicate effectively

* Excellent organizational ability and attention to detail

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $44,766.00 to USD $80,000.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
