Job Description:

Cydecor seeks a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to support the Navy Readiness Reporting Enterprise - Business Intelligence (NRRE-BI) project. This position plays a critical role in validating the performance, reliability, and accuracy of a large-scale data warehouse and business intelligence ecosystem supporting the United States Navy. The successful candidate will focus heavily on data-centric testing, including validation of ETL processes, data transformations, and business logic across multiple data sources and analytic layers.

Responsibilities include designing, executing, and maintaining SQL-based test scripts, verifying data integrity, and ensuring end-to-end traceability from source systems to analytic outputs. The engineer will collaborate daily with software developers, data engineers, and analysts to proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve defects across both the application and data layers. A strong grasp of data warehouse architectures, testing methodologies, and quality assurance best practices, combined with analytical rigor and problem-solving creativity, will be essential for success in this role.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform manual and automated software testing in accordance with established test documentation.
• Collaborate daily with the Software Development Team to ensure test coverage and early issue resolution.
• Develop, publish, and implement test plans for new and existing functionality.
• Write, maintain, and execute test scripts and SQL queries for backend validation.
• Develop and enforce quality assurance standards and ensure compliance across the testing lifecycle.
• Define, track, and report on quality assurance metrics such as defect density, open defect counts, and test coverage.
• Document and communicate test results clearly, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
• Perform other quality-related or project support tasks as assigned.

Here's what you need (Required Qualifications):

• 3-7 years of hands-on experience with data warehouse/data mart design, ETL processes, and business intelligence environments
• Proven ability to write and execute test cases, develop test scenarios, and analyze test results
• 3-7 years experience with multiple testing types, including:
  • System Testing
  • Integration Testing
  • Functional Testing
  • Backend/Database Testing
  • Regression and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Strong understanding of iterative and agile SDLC processes
• Demonstrated skill in SQL, including writing and validating complex queries
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Bonus points if you have (Desired Qualifications):

• Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Postman, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with Navy or DoD software environments and data governance standards
• Experience with Azure DevOps, JIRA, or similar test management tools
• Understanding of data analytics or business intelligence reporting tools (Power BI, Cognos, etc.)

Security Clearance: DoD secret DOD SECRET

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field OR at least 5 years of combined education and direct experience in software quality assurance and testing.
