SUMMARY

The Laundry Service Manager will support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support disaster response operations and manage temporary facility support services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Oversees daily laundry service operations and ensures quality of products served

  • Provides leadership to support staff and foster a positive and cooperative work environment

  • Maintains safe and sanitary work environments for occupants using facilities

  • Manages all service requests to laundry facilities and oversees maintenance to completion

  • Provides reports on all laundry facilities and maintains all records accordingly

  • Orders supplies and maintains stock and inventory control

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and requirements

  • Inspecting and diagnosing equipment, machinery, or systems to identify faults or malfunctions

  • Repairing or replacing defective parts, components, or systems using appropriate tools and techniques

  • Conducting routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns or malfunctions of temporary facility related equipment

  • Testing and evaluating equipment functionality after repairs or maintenance

  • Knowledge of federal ADA requirements

  • Providing clear explanations and guidance regarding repair processes, costs, and schedules

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, including parts used and work performed

  • Ability to adhere to safety guidelines, regulations, and company policies while performing repairs

  • Maintains knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices related to repair and maintenance

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

May perform task or site lead functions including:

  • Supervision of laundry services and/or subcontract vendors

  • Reports to Program Manager

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • An associate degree with no less than 2 years of professional experience working as an Administrator or Manager preferably in a government environment.

  • Traveled as a part of work requirements

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are not required but are preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral and written means

  • Ability to remain calm in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies

  • Proven experience in equipment repair, maintenance, or a related field

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems (MEP)

  • Proficiency in using various hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision

  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers and team members

  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform repairs in various settings

  • The ability to successfully pass a drug screen and a federal background check is mandatory

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is performed both indoors and outdoors

  • Travel is required up to 100% of the time
