CLA is currently seeking an Audit Technical Director to support our clients in our growing Affordable housing (HUD and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) practice for the following office locations: In Washington (Bellevue, Tacoma, Lacey) or Portland, Oregon. The Technical Director contributes at the highest level in their industry and excels at client advisory, service advocacy, relationship development, and leadership. This role is highly specialized and focuses on technical quality, compliance, and methodology.

How You'll Create Opportunities in This Audit Technical Director Role

  • Client Service: Manage relationships with and oversee assurance engagements for affordable housing nonprofit organizations.
  • Quality Control Reviews: Perform technical reviews of assurance engagements to ensure compliance with professional standards and firm policies, which will include but not limited to signing audits.
  • Technical Resource: Serve as a go-to expert for engagement teams, providing guidance on complex accounting and auditing issues, specifically in affordable housing engagements.
  • Standards Implementation: Assist in developing and maintaining audit methodology, practice aids, and training materials for new standards.
  • Thought Leadership: Create internal and external content on emerging accounting and auditing topics.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze findings, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate on process enhancements.
  • Team Development:Train and develop team members to build skills in the affordable housing specialty area to continue to scale and grow
  • Collaboration: Work closely with firm leadership and occasionally with clients on technical matters.
  • Leading our industry professionals:to deliver compliance and consulting services, including mentoring the team to get to know and help their clients by developing a deep understanding of their businesses and delivering the firm's services to fully meet

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's or master's in accounting, finance or related field
  • Current CPA licensure required.
  • 8+ years of public accounting experience with a public accounting and/or professional services firm with emphasis in financial statement preparation and audits.
  • Audit Experience in Affordable housing - HUD and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) is required.

Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range. These same factors may cause starting pay to be below or above the posted range. For Washington, the range for this position $114,800 - $195,000.
