Compensation:

* Base Pay Range: $19.15 - $30.23 per hour, based on experience

* Shift Differentials:

o Additional $0.50 per hour for evening shift

o Additional $0.70 per hour for night shift

o Additional $0.50 per hour for weekend evening shift

o Additional $0.70 per hour for weekend night shift

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

* Assist the Communication Services departments in the operational activities of the hospital telecommunications switchboard and information centers.

* Provide training and education:

o Act as a preceptor for new hires and oversee initial learning.

o Perform annual staff competency assessments and customize training specific to needs based upon assessments.

o Provide ongoing education and in-services on systems, updates, and related changes.

* Assist and provide feedback related to department schedules and staff growth and performance. Instruct and advise staff in the handling of customer inquiries.

* Takes responsibility associated with being "on-call" on a rotating basis in order to handle emergency situations and provide coverage in the event of staffing shortages.

* Assist leadership in the development of policy and procedures.

* Display initiative and good judgment in problem solving.

* Show initiative and implement improvement coaching with staff as appropriate.

* Support numerous devices such as patient phones, pagers, cellular phones.

* Act as a liaison between the various vendors and the department in order to maintain needed assets. Act as staff access/contact point for telecommunications device exchanges.

* Process billing and charge back for services provided.

* Provide oversight, monitoring, and notifications related to various regulatory and security systems. Including but not limited to fire alarm, medical gas (oxygen, vacuum, and medical air), access intercom system, closed circuit television, intrusion alarms, panic/duress alarms).

* May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Four (4) years of experience in working with the public. Education may be used in lieu of work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Previous hospital experience.

* Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
