IT Support Technician

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina

Environment: On-site, non-climate-controlled manufacturing floor

Shift: 0400pm-0100am M-F

Pay: $24 hr.

Position Overview

As a Support Technician, you will be the first line of technical support for a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role focuses heavily on troubleshooting end-user devices, maintaining essential production hardware including Zebra label printers, and supporting network connectivity aligned with the TCP/IP model. Hands-on work on the manufacturing floor is expected.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Tier 1 support for hardware and software issues (PCs, scanners, printers, handhelds, thin clients)

Troubleshoot basic network connectivity using TCP/IP fundamentals (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, ping, tracert, etc.)

Learn, operate, and maintain Zebra thermal label printers

Replace print heads, media, and ribbons

Manage printer configurations and firmware

Perform imaging, configuration, and deployment of new devices

Support manufacturing user accounts and permissions via standard IAM tools

Log, track, and resolve support requests in IT ticketing systems

Assist with preventative maintenance and inventory of IT assets

Collaborate with the IT Supervisor on process improvements and documentation

Ensure safety and compliance with manufacturing floor requirements

Required Skills & Knowledge

Basic understanding of the TCP/IP model (Layer functions, protocols, troubleshooting steps)

General PC and Windows troubleshooting (drivers, OS issues, updates, peripherals)

Familiarity with common networking commands (ping, ipconfig, nslookup)

Excellent communication and teamwork skills - especially in high-urgency situations

Ability to lift and maneuver equipment up to 40 lbs.

Preferred

Experience with Zebra printers or other industrial printing systems

Prior exposure to IT in a manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment

Basic concepts of Active Directory & M365 administration

CompTIA A+ or working toward IT certifications
