The A. H. Ray Student Health Center is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team!

The Alexander H. Ray Student Health Services (part of the Wellness Center) at Winston-Salem State University is an outpatient facility that provides a variety of health care services to the student population. The Student Health Center supports student learning and success mainly through individual care and interactions in an environment where we encourage and educate students to be active participants in managing their health to live healthy and productive lives now and after graduation.
Responsibilities of the Certified Medical Assistant include:
* Scheduling patient appointments and documenting medical insurance coverage
* Charting patient encounters
* Maintaining records of student immunizations, health history, and compliance documentation
* Organizing and managing printed and electronic medical information in university information systems
* Adhering to all
HIPAA,
FERPA, and university policies regarding information management
* Coordinating patient and medical record intake activities with medical staff
* Facilitating the efficient flow of patients, visitors and work, and coordinating referrals
* Maintaining internal and external contacts' information for work coordination and completion
* Communicating routine and general information to staff, clients, and the public about standard health services, processes and procedures
* Screening and directing clients and visitors to appropriate staff and resources
* Preparing and filing written correspondence and reports
* Drafting reports, e-mails, and other correspondence |
| Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The purpose of the A. H. Ray Student Health Center is to support student success by providingconfidential, clinical health services for enrolled students, supports immunization compliance as required by law, and monitor campus public health concerns to include communicable diseases, emergency preparedness, and crisis management. Our resources are allocated to address issues through awareness, prevention, clinical management, and coordination with stakeholders.
