POSITION SUMMARY:

The Regional Finance Manager supervises and performs professional accounting work and analysis of financial data. This includes supervising the monthly closing process and cost accounting for all plants within assigned region. This is a leadership role that is responsible for managing and developing plant controllers and being a business partner with regional operations and sales. In addition, this position will assess risk and opportunities in the business as well as ensure full internal control measures are in place.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Build/maintain a high performing team to provide financial support to Operations and Sales teams in assigned region.

  • Establish clear goals and objectives and provide regular and timely feedback, coaching, guidance and direction to team members.
  • Challenge regional leadership on financial performance and improvement opportunities.

Oversee monthly closing process and cost accounting for plants within region.

  • General ledger maintenance and balance sheet analysis.
  • Responsible for cost, inventory, and project accounting and analysis.
  • Preparation and dissemination of financial statements.
  • Establish and attain standards of asset performance to align with plant performance requirements.
  • Implement spare parts management best practices to control spare parts and equipment.
  • Ensure full internal control measures are in place.

Partner with Sales and Operations Management to maximize the profitability and drive the performance of plants and terminals.

  • Establish control procedures that allow effective measurement of plant key performance indicators.
  • Provide timely analysis of financial data and plant metrics used in business decision.
  • Provide profitability information relating to customers and products.
  • Provide financial consultation to plant management team and other leaders in the organization.
  • Create high quality financial models/analyses to support operational and capital expenditure decisions.

Assess risks and opportunities in the business and work with the management team to address and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Demonstrated leadership/communication skills with all levels (e.g. frontline, management, functional).
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in the areas of finance and accounting as well as operational activities to support a strong productive culture.
  • Must work well with others within and outside the Finance Department and can think "outside the box".
  • Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and develop strong finance teams.
  • Ability to assess risks and opportunities within complex business situations.
  • Ability to recommend and make decisions quickly.
  • Must have proven hands-on experience in month end closing for multiple plant, multiple state environment.
  • Excellent PC skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, and prior experience working with large network ERP system (SAP knowledge including reporting).
  • Familiarity with average costing and standard cost systems, inventory control procedures, and automated inventory control systems.
  • Knowledge of various forms of freight and commodity raw materials (mining and manufacturing background preferred).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned and capable of accessing all plant locations, which could include heights, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working in both an office environment and in a mining environment, which may include exposure to:temperature extremes, noise, uneven surfaces, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and metallic particles.
  • Will require periodic travel to each of the regional locations, as needed.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as needed and/or directed by leadership.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.

PREFFERED EDUCATION:

  • Graduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-7 years of accounting and business partnering experience.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience leading teams, experience in a manufacturing environment.
