Talent Acquisition Specialist

Steptoe LLP, an Am Law 100 firm headquartered in Washington, DC, is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to join its People Operations Department. This role, based in the firm's Washington, DC office, will primarily support partner recruiting, while also assisting with lateral attorney and business services hiring as needed. The ideal candidate will manage the full recruitment life cycle from initial outreach through integration to ensure an exceptional and seamless experience for candidates and internal stakeholders alike. You will be a self-starter who knows how to anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and adapt quickly as priorities shift.

Essential Functions

  • Partner Recruiting Support: Organize, facilitate, and schedule partner interviews and manage internal and external outreach. May also assist with lateral and business services recruiting efforts.
  • Candidate Management: Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the recruiting process. Support and oversee applicant tracking, sourcing, and candidate review and disposition. Will also update and maintain data in Applicant Tracking system, generate reports and contribute process improvement ideas.
  • Vendor Coordination: Assist with communications and meetings with external search firms.
  • Interview Coordination: Schedule candidate interviews, greet and engage with candidates during their interview process to ensure positive and professional experience. Coordinate all logistics including gathering and distributing follow-up
  • Onboarding and Integration: Support and execute all aspects of new hire onboarding and the first 30 days ensuring seamless integration into the firm:
    • Reference, conflict, and background check completion
    • Offer letter preparation and coordination
    • Initiation of new hire paperwork
    • Orientation scheduling and logistics
    • Distribution of new hire announcements
    • Ensure all internal stakeholder departments are informed to for smooth arrivals
  • Hiring Documentation: Track submission of new hire forms and relevant hiring information; follow up with new hires and relevant stakeholders as needed.
  • Change Actions: Process Personnel Change Notifications ("PCNs") for staff actions, including promotions, pay adjustments, terminations, and leaves of absence.
  • Internal Collaboration: Partner with relevant stakeholder teams to ensure partner, lateral and business services recruiting priorities and new hire onboarding align with the firms priorities.
  • Special Projects: Assist with special projects and Initiatives that enhance the lateral partner recruiting function and candidate experience

Non-Essential Functions

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • A minimum of four years' experience in recruiting, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, Teams and applicant tracking systems.

    Work Environment

  • Non-Smoking Environment
  • Available to work from 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. This position is hybrid eligible.
  • Must be able to work under tight deadlines and in stressful situations

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
