Apply to the ACCOUNTING CLERK 2ND GRADE position now! Job Description Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for an Accounting Clerk 2nd Grade in Hughesville, Maryland. SMECO is a rapidly growing electric utility that serves over 160,000 consumers just south of Washington, D.C. SMECO is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace. The primary functions of this position will be learning to process allocations, refunds, research and reissue returned checks, process estate payments, and maintain related filing system for Capital Credits. This position will also interact with customers via telephone, in person, and in writing as required. This position pays $31.19/hr. This position requires a candidate who is a team player, has a willingness to learn, performs well under pressure, has good prioritization skills, requires minimal supervision, and is eager to grow with the organization. Two years of experience in basic principles of accounting are required. Must be proficient in Excel. A two-year degree in accounting or a business discipline is preferred but not required.
