The Data Platform Pillar is the bedrock of Cloudera's technology, where we design and build the core components that let our customers store, manage, and process data with unmatched scalability, security, and performance.

Our Spark Engineering team collaborates across Cloudera to build and maintain advanced, automated build and release infrastructure. We're looking for a self-motivated engineer with strong programming skills and experience in concurrency and distributed systems. You will work on software that processes petabytes of data at scale, contribute to leading open-source projects, and have opportunities to own projects that drive performance and innovation.

As a Software Engineer you will:

  • Implement new features in Spark in Scala & Java

  • Contribute to the open source Apache Spark project

  • Write tests and ensure our distribution of Spark remains compatible with the rest of the Cloudera stack

  • Learn how to design systems resilient to the problems of running on thousands of nodes

  • Help customers debug complex issues that come from running data pipelines on spark on real world datasets

We're excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent and 2-5 years of related experience

  • Programming experience with a JVM Language (Java or Scala preferred; Clojure or Groovy experience acceptable)

  • Experience with Unix / Linux

  • Experience with automating CI/CD processes

  • Experience with Jenkins, Maven, Git
