The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking a fellowship-trained, board-eligible or board-certified Complex and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeon to join the newly established Division of Complex and Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery (
CMIGS). This is a full-time, open-rank academic position in an innovative and growing program that serves as a regional referral center for complex benign gynecologic conditions.
About the Division of Complex and Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery
The Division provides comprehensive surgical care for patients with complex gynecologic conditions including, but not limited to, endometriosis, large-volume fibroids, pelvic pain, adhesions, isthmoceles, C-section scar ectopic pregnancies, adnexal pathology, abnormal uterine bleeding, and congenital anomalies. The Division emphasizes minimally invasive laparoscopic, robotic, and/or vaginal surgical techniques and is committed to advancing the field through research, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide advanced minimally invasive, laparoscopic, robotic, and/or vaginal surgical care for complex benign gynecologic conditions.
* Participate in the education of medical students and OB/
GYN residents through clinical teaching and simulation training.
* Collaborate on quality improvement initiatives within gynecologic surgery.
* Engage in clinical or translational research aligned with Division priorities.
* Support the development of a formal referral program and interdisciplinary partnerships.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
* MD degree with board eligibility or certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Completion of an
AAGL-accredited fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery or equivalent.
* Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, and scholarship.
* Eligible for medical licensure in the State of New Jersey.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to interdisciplinary care.

| Overview |
Clinical Care:
- Provide direct surgical and outpatient care in advanced benign gynecology, including management of:
- Endometriosis, uterine fibroids, pelvic pain - Mullerian anomalies, isthmoceles, C-section scar ectopics - Intrauterine adhesions, complex hysterectomy - Perform minimally invasive surgery using laparoscopic, robotic, and vaginal techniques.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care and expand access to tertiary-level gynecologic surgical services.
- Help develop standardized clinical pathways, referral guidelines, and preoperative protocols.
Education and Training:
- Teach and mentor medical students and residents in gynecology and surgical technique.
- Serve as a faculty leader in surgical simulation and skills development.
- Participate in curriculum development for gynecologic surgery at all levels of training.
- Support departmental efforts to grow a future AAGL-accredited MIGS fellowship.
Scholarship and Research:
- Engage in scholarly activity with a focus on clinical outcomes, surgical innovation, health disparities, or pelvic pain.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to support grant submissions, publications, and research mentorship.
- Present work at regional and national academic meetings.
Service and Leadership:
- Serve on departmental or school-wide committees as appropriate.
- Contribute to quality improvement projects and safety initiatives in gynecologic surgery.
- Collaborate with institutional stakeholders to expand programmatic visibility and referral networks.
