About the Role

The HR Generalist I is an early-career HR professional who supports employee relations, compliance, and people processes while continuing to develop professional judgment, business understanding, and HR capability. This role serves as a bridge between HR operations and HR partnership, handling defined responsibilities independently while receiving guidance and oversight on more complex or high-risk matters.

The HR Generalist I works closely with site leaders, employees, and senior HR partners to support a safe, fair, and productive work environment. This role is critical in ensuring consistent application of policies, timely resolution of issues, and a positive employee experience, while building toward a more strategic HR role.

What You Will Do

Employee & Labor Relations

  • Support and conduct employee relations investigations, including fact-finding, documentation, and recommendations, with guidance from senior HR leaders.
  • Assist leaders with performance management, corrective action, and disciplinary processes.
  • Participate in grievance support, contract interpretation, and labor-related matters in union environments as appropriate.
  • Ensure employee issues are handled consistently, fairly, and in alignment with company values, policies, and agreements.

Compliance, Policy & Risk Support

  • Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures with appropriate supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, labor agreements, and internal policies.
  • Support audits, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential risks or inconsistencies and escalate appropriately.

Talent, Engagement & Development

  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and workforce movement processes.
  • Partner with leaders and HR colleagues on engagement initiatives, training, and development activities.
  • Assist in administering performance management, engagement surveys, and action planning.

Leader & Employee Support

  • Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Coach supervisors on basic performance feedback, documentation, and communication.
  • Serve as a trusted and accessible HR presence at the site level.

Learning & Professional Development

  • Build deeper knowledge of employment law, labor relations, HR best practices, and the business.
  • Seek feedback and coaching from senior HR partners.
  • Participate in training, stretch assignments, and cross-functional exposure.

What You Should Have

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Human Resources or a related people-focused role.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Working knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and employee relations practices.
  • STRONG PREFERENCE for someone bi-lingual in Spanish.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
  • Ability to exercise judgment with guidance and recognize when escalation is needed.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Comfort working in operational or manufacturing environments.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is site-based and involves regular interaction with manufacturing teams and leadership.

Work involves:

  • Sitting for extended periods
  • Using standard office equipment
  • Walking through production environments requiring appropriate PPE
  • Attending meetings and employee discussions
