Overview

Compass Oncology, the largest private oncology practice in the Pacific Northwest, is looking to add an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to our Oregon Cancer Centers. The APP will join the Gynecolgic Oncology team seeing patients in partner with our Gyn Physicians, holding independent clinics, and assisting in the operating room. Through a team-based-care approach, they will educate patients on treatments, provide post-operative care, build patient relationships through long term follow-up clinics, and provide other general support to maintain the high level of care our patients are accustomed to. Employment Type: Full-Time, 32 Hours or .8 FTE

Location: West Cancer Clinic (Tigard, OR)

Salary Range: $113,048- $204,443.00 (note: this compensation band is for 1.0 FTE and will be adjusted based on FTE)

**Final offer amounts are determined by a review of the candidate's applicable experience and qualifications, as well as, internal employee equity considerations.

SCOPE: Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients in tandem with Physician and care team.
  • Serves as OR assist in surgeries perform by Compass physicians.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures and post-operative care with minimal supervision.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Often incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Likely to provide case management for patients and their families.
  • Sometimes serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
  • May provide palliative care and/or survivorship for the patient and their families as needed.
  • May promote/provide staff education.
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals, weekend or after-hour calls.
  • May mentor new advanced practice providers.
  • May precept APP students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification.
  • Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state.
  • Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required

Experience/Training: Minimum (3) years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferred.
