Overview

We can't do it without YOU!

Do you want to apply your experience, skills, and education in a way that makes a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of our patients and their families? At Tennessee Cancer Specialists, it is the privilege of our employees to walk with our patients and their families as they move along the journey of fighting cancer. Whether you are working directly with patients in one of our clinics or in a support role, you are an important part of our mission to deliver the highest quality, compassionate care. Our 200+ employees make up the teams at our 15 different East Tennessee locations.

As a Specialty Oncology Retail Pharmacist, you will assist our clinical teams and patients by ensuring safe, accurate, and timely preparation and dispensing of medications so they can receive the best possible care throughout their treatment journey.

Responsibilities

Here's what might happen on a typical day...

You'll be the go-to expert for oncology medications, collaborating with physicians and nurses to verify prescriptions, prepare chemotherapy admixtures, and counsel patients on their medications. You'll manage inventory, ensure compliance with safety and legal standards, and help patients understand how their treatment impacts their daily lives. This role requires precision, compassion, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail truly matters.

Experiences that matter...
  • Prepare and dispense medications accurately and on time.
  • Review patient profiles to ensure compatibility and safety.
  • Provide drug counseling and education to patients and answer questions from healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records for prescriptions, inventory, and billing.
  • Monitor compliance with legal regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Support quality assurance and safety initiatives across the pharmacy.

Qualifications

For your safety, keep this in mind:

This position requires standing or sitting for extended periods, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally. You'll work in an environment where exposure to chemotherapeutic agents and other medicinal preparations is possible, so adherence to safety protocols is essential.

We feel this position requires these basics:
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school.
  • Current Pharmacist license in the state of Tennessee.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a registered pharmacist.
  • Oncology experience preferred; IV admixture skills strongly desired.
