FSB is a full-service Architecture and Engineering firm built on 80 years of design excellence, technical innovation, and community impact. We're always on the lookout for engineers who see beyond the expected - professionals who understand how thoughtful fire protection design safeguards people, strengthens communities, and elevates everyday experiences.

We're growing and currently seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our collaborative engineering team. This role is ideal for fire protection professionals with 4-6 years of experience who are nearing or have recently obtained PE licensure and are ready to take on more technical leadership, code interpretation, mentoring, and system ownership.

At FSB, fire protection engineers work shoulder to shoulder with architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, and technical specialists to create solutions that are innovative, coordinated, and buildable.

If you're passionate about life safety and ready to grow with a team that values purpose and performance, we invite you to apply. Note, this role can be based in either our Oklahoma City or Tulsa office, with Tulsa preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of fire protection system designs including fire sprinkler, standpipe, fire alarm, and mass notification systems with minimal supervision.
  • Perform and review detailed hydraulic and voltage drop calculations to ensure performance and code compliance.
  • Lead code research, prepare code summaries, and apply both prescriptive and performance-based strategies.
  • Prepare complete documentation packages including technical specifications, design narratives, and construction drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Interpret and implement complex code scenarios, such as mixed-use occupancies, hazardous materials, and special hazard systems.
  • Support construction-phase services including RFIs, submittal reviews, site observations, and issue resolution.
  • Guide project team members through feasibility studies, egress analyses, and fire flow evaluations.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance internal standards, templates, and technical resources.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and informal training to junior staff.
  • Coordinate multi-discipline designs and resolve conflicts collaboratively with internal teams and project stakeholders.
Soft Skills
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with strong leadership potential.
  • Confident, professional communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Highly organized and dependable with an ability to manage multiple deliverables.
  • Ethical, safety-focused, and committed to responsible engineering practice.
  • Self-motivated, solution-driven, and open to constructive feedback.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other closely related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in fire protection engineering with strong technical and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex system design and code compliance.
  • Experience developing construction documents, narratives, and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA standards, IBC/IFC, and life safety code frameworks.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to convey technical decisions to project managers, architects, contractors, and clients.
