Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Belvidere is a manufacturing facility of appx. 700 employees serving the Snacks Operating Unit and North America Foodservice(NAF) Segment. We operate in a dynamic business environment, with a rich history of performance, innovation and renovation. We are continuing to evolve to a more complex product portfolio to meet the changing needs of our consumers and customers. The Belvidere plant is a very strategic and critical plant to both the NAR and NAF Segments and continues to be a magnet for investment and growth.

The Project Leader provides improvement and transformation focused initiative leadership. They are responsible for the Improvement Plan and leading large scale and/or cross functional business initiatives. The Project Leader plays an integral role in ensuring the business needs and plant performance goals are achieved through successful management of improvement goals, resources, and timing as well as driving consistency across the site.

This role will lead a capability improvement plans for the Front Line Leaders across the site, partnering with Platform Managers and supporting the execution of DFI changes and shift DDS evolution for Night shifts.

Schedule: This role will be supporting Night Shift across the site. The Belvidere site night crew goes from 17:30-6:00. Typical hours being 22:00-07:00. Flexibility comes in the form of adapting to business needs for a four or five day/week schedule predominantly on night crew. Critical on-site presence comes in the form of supporting night shift DDS and hand-offs w/ day shift in the 6am hour to ensure progress of work and other informs are communicated.

Safety

Lead food and human safety through Safety 2.0 leadership principles and standards.

  • Leverage and influence standard work and project management skills to effectively lead cross-functional teams (Operations, Logistics, Sourcing, R&D) to deliver expected results.

Process Leadership and Ownership

Driving System Utilization (DSU) & Capabilities Improvement Plan:

  • Enhance Front-Line Leader Capabilities: Develop and deliver front-line leaders development strategies based on current state.
  • Measure success through pre- and post-action assessments demonstrating improvement in identified skills.
  • Track quarterly ideas, goals, timing, and resources.
  • Integrate ideas, plans, and pipeline for the Platform Team (examples: human safety, food safety, capital projects, waste, new products, HMM).
  • Enable communication to and from plant leadership and FFL council for platform focused initiatives.
  • Support DDS Program Integrity in partnership with the Platform managers: Identify and address any inconsistencies or gaps in the DDS program, proposing and implementing solutions to maintain the program's integrity and effectiveness. Measure success through the number of identified and resolved inconsistencies and the implementation of corrective actions.

Know your Operation, Data and Technology

  • Secure knowledge to collect, analyze and interpret manufacturing data to make informed decisions (Big 6).
  • Build a comprehensive understanding of the production system, equipment and the product transformation process.
  • Gain understanding of inventory management principles, material specifications, quality control procedures, and traceability systems for Ingredients, Materials and Finished Products.
  • Develop a base understanding of daily management and process ownership across the team (examples: DH, CL, CIL, etc.).
  • Gain understanding of Shift DDS Process: Provide coaching and support to process and foundational systems, ensuring consistent implementation and adherence to best practices. Measure success through observation of improved DDS process implementation across shifts and feedback from shift leaders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and working in a highly collaborative environment
  • Success in driving results through process and teamwork
  • Proven success reducing losses and improving performance in a manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated technical capability and knowledge of unit operations and machinery (at least one production platform)
  • Working knowledge of data analysis systems (examples: SAP, Maximo, Manufacturing Analytics, MQIS) and decision making for results
  • Skilled at communicating between work groups, cross-functional resources, and other members of the plant
  • Proficient understanding of project leadership (start-up management, project management, strategic planning)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience

  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $81000.00 - $121700.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
